Helping Children Build Healthy Dental Habits
Children benefit from simple, consistent routines that make oral care a normal part of morning and bedtime.
Keep brushing age-appropriate
Use fluoride toothpaste in an age-appropriate amount and supervise brushing until a child can reliably clean all tooth surfaces.
Make food and drinks part of prevention
Frequent sugary snacks and drinks increase cavity risk. Water and structured meal/snack times can help reduce repeated sugar exposure.
Use dental visits for coaching
Ask about brushing, flossing, fluoride, sealants, thumb-sucking, tooth eruption, and other age-specific concerns.
