What to Do If Dentures Are Damaged

Cracks, broken teeth, loose components, or a sudden change in fit can make a denture uncomfortable or unsafe to use.

Avoid do-it-yourself repairs

Household glues and home reshaping can damage a denture and may make professional repair more difficult. Do not force a broken appliance into place.

Save the pieces

Keep any broken pieces together and bring them to the dental office. The dentist can determine whether the appliance can be repaired, relined, adjusted, or should be replaced.

A changing fit deserves evaluation

Weight changes, bone and tissue changes, wear, or damage can alter fit over time. Persistent sore areas or looseness should be evaluated rather than simply tolerated.

Individual care matters: Treatment recommendations depend on an examination, health history, diagnosis, and individual needs. Call the office to discuss whether evaluation, treatment, or referral is appropriate.
