Tooth-Saving Treatment
Root Canal Treatment
Root canal treatment is used when the soft tissue inside a tooth becomes inflamed or infected and the tooth may otherwise be at risk of being lost.
Why a root canal may be recommended
Deep decay, cracks, trauma, or repeated dental procedures can affect the pulp inside a tooth. Symptoms can vary, and some teeth that need treatment have few symptoms.
What treatment generally involves
The diseased or injured pulp is removed, the internal canal system is cleaned and sealed, and the tooth is restored. A crown or other final restoration may be recommended to protect the tooth afterward.
Evaluation comes first
Tooth pain has many possible causes. An examination and appropriate imaging are needed before determining whether root canal treatment, another restoration, extraction, or referral is appropriate.
Individual care matters: Treatment recommendations depend on an examination, health history, diagnosis, and individual needs. Call the office to discuss whether evaluation, treatment, or referral is appropriate.
