Oral Hygiene Basics

Daily home care works together with professional dental care to reduce plaque buildup and protect teeth and gums.

A practical home-care foundation

Brush twice each day with fluoride toothpaste and a soft-bristled toothbrush. Clean between the teeth daily using floss or another interdental cleaner that works for you.

Technique matters

Use gentle pressure and reach the outer, inner, and chewing surfaces of each tooth. Replace a toothbrush when the bristles become worn or frayed. If brushing causes discomfort or bleeding that persists, discuss it with your dental team.

Food, drinks, and oral health

A balanced diet that limits frequent sugary snacks and beverages supports cavity prevention. Water is a tooth-friendly choice between meals.

Individual care matters: Treatment recommendations depend on an examination, health history, diagnosis, and individual needs. Call the office to discuss whether evaluation, treatment, or referral is appropriate.
