Meet Dr. Ryan Austin, DDS

Professional Background
Dr. Ryan Austin grew up in the mountains of northern Pennsylvania in Potter County before attending Bloomsburg University. He then attended West Virginia University School of Dentistry, where he graduated third in his class.
For the next eight years, he cared for patients of all ages in North Carolina, with special interests in family dentistry, dental implants, and oral surgery.
Why Dentistry
Dr. Austin’s interest in dentistry grew from his own experience as a dental patient. As a child, he spent significant time in the dental chair and was fortunate to have a dentist who made him feel comfortable, cared for, and confident. That experience helped shape the kind of care he wants to provide for others.
His Approach to Patient Care
Dr. Austin’s philosophy is simple: treat every patient as he would a member of his own family.
That means listening carefully, taking time to answer questions, recommending only treatment that is truly needed, and leading with honesty, integrity, and compassion. He believes lasting relationships are the foundation of great dental care.
He also understands that dental visits can be stressful. Whether a patient has had a difficult experience in the past or simply feels anxious about treatment, Dr. Austin and the Willowdale team work to create a welcoming environment where patients can feel comfortable, respected, and genuinely cared for.
Continuity with the Team
One of the strengths of Willowdale Family Dentistry is the continuity of the clinical and administrative team. Patients can continue to see many familiar faces while the practice moves forward under Dr. Austin’s ownership.
Outside the Office
Dr. Austin enjoys spending time with his wife, Katie, and family. He also enjoys outdoor activities such as hiking and camping, spending time with the family’s golden retriever, Wrigley, and following the Chicago Cubs and West Virginia University sports.
